On July 7, U.S. Ambassador to Bridgetown, Linda Taglialatela, accompanied by other officials including USAID/ESC Regional Representative, Clinton D. White visited the Richmond Vale Academy (RVA) in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

While on that tour, the delegation learned about the recovery process since the eruption of the La Soufriere volcano in April 2021. They also learned more about the school’s capacity building programs, renewable energy systems, ecological farming models, rainwater harvesting systems, and RVA’s community work.

RVA currently has two U.S. Government grants that are both in the beginning phases: one with the Inter American Foundation for food security through ecological home gardens, and the other with the U.S. Forestry Department for post-disaster restoration of the RVA tree nursery and forest garden, and planting coastal trees with community groups.
